In 2009, Skoda introduced the Yeti which was an instant hit as a family car. To further win more buyers, the automaker is planning a new model set to go on sale in the second half of 2016 as a 2017 model year car. The vehicle which has been dubbed “the 2017 Skoda yeti” will be adequately packed to give the segment’s market leader the Nissan Qashqai a run for its money.
2017 Skoda Yeti Exterior and Interior
The 2017 Skoda Yeti exterior profile will be based on the new VW Tiguan. However, Yeti will be smaller. The Yeti will ride on the MQB platform just like its cousin the Skoda Octavia. According to renderings from our engineers, expect a conventional design which will be in line with the automaker’s latest design language. As such, the design will have sharper lines and a number of angles. As well, the front fascia will feature a redesigned grille which will be flanked by slim-looking LED headlights and small DRLs placed below the mainstream headlights. The vehicle will have a 101.5-inch wheelbase and stretch 166.3 inches long, 70.6 inches wide and stand at a height of 66.6 inches.
As of this writing, there have been no official details regarding the interior of the 2017 Skoda Yeti. However, we know that the automaker will offer the new 5-door Yeti in two cabin styles; one accommodating five passengers and the other accommodating up to seven passengers. Compared to the outgoing models, the cabin of the 2017 Skoda Yeti will feel and look more up-market. The cabin will feature the latest technological gadgets adopted from recent VW models. The vehicle will be offered in there trim levels which are the Scout, Sportline and Monte Carlo. Under the hood, the 2017 Skoda Yeti will feature an array of engines. The first engine will be a 1.2 L turbocharged engine capable of making 108 hp and 129 lb-ft of torque. The second gasoline engine is a 1.4 L, 4-cylinder turbocharged unit rated at 148 hp and 184 lb-ft of torque. There will also be a diesel engine which will be a 2.0 L 4-cylinder turbo-diesel rated at 148 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque. There are also rumors of a hybrid engine but its specs are still a mystery as of now. 2017 Skoda Yeti the engines will be mated to a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission system. In addition, buyers will have an option for a 7-speed DSG transmission system.
2017 Skoda Yeti Price and Release Date
As of now the official price or release date of the 2017 Skoda Yeti is not known. However, there are reports suggesting that the vehicle will be more expensive compared to the predecessor models which are priced between $ 22,000 and $ 31,000. The vehicle is likely to hit the market in the second half of 2016.
