2016 Nissan GTR – Nismo, R36, price, specs

Japanese car producer will release its 2016 Nissan GTR with facelift for this model year. However, the release of its new generation R36 will probably be in a few years, but for the upcoming model year, Nissan prepared refresh of its model. Since GTR supercar hasn’t received any upgrades since its release back in 2009, the current R35 gen will now receive some upscale changes.

Although heavily covered with camouflage, GTR’s changes are still visible. Its front grill will be revised, and it will now have more hexagonal shape, while front mask and bumpers will also be reshaped. Nissan V-shape around the badge seems to becoming a signature sign of the brand, and it is yet another change visible on 2016 GTR.

News about hybrid variant of the popular GTR gained a lot of interested parties, but Nissan will not release this model before the launch of the new generation. However, massive changes that will occur with new generation will be historic. Nissan R36 GTR will be a hybrid, which will use the powertrain of its Infiniti cousin Q80 Concept. This will mean that new generation Hybrid Nissan GTR will be able to produce around 780 horsepower which will come from a 3.8-litre twin-turbocharged V6 engine and electric unit. The design of the new generation GTR will be based on Nissan’s Vision 2020 Concept.

So called “the beast” and “Godzilla” this superb sports car has an output that justifies its nicknames. GTR has always been one of the top rated performers in its segment. Constantly competing with Porsche 911 Carrera Coupe and Audi’s R8, Nissan’s GTR managed to beat its rivals in couple of occasions. The performance of the facelifted GTR which will come for 2016 model year will remain the same, we believe, since this brand plans a big makeover and redesign for the new generation which will follow it shortly.

The engine under the hood of the 2016 Nissan GTR will probably be a twin-turbocharged 3.8-liter V6. This unit will deliver up to 545 horsepower and 463 lb-ft of torque. 2016 Nissan GTR Nismo version will come with even higher rates of 600 horsepower and 481 lb-ft of torque. The engine will transfer the power to all wheels via 6-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox.
