2015 GMC Sierra HD had its debut at the State Fair of Texas, in October last year, and it will go on sale sometime during the first quarter of this year. This heavy duty truck had a major makeover back in 2011 and that model set the standard for GMC Sierra HD as we know it today, but 2015 GMC Sierra HD features a lot of changes, including the ones made to enhance the performance, look and functionality of the truck. New Sierra HD will be available in four trim levels including Work Truck, SLE, SLT, and Denali and two model series including 2500 and 3500. GMC’s engineers spent a lot of time planning the safety measures, and as a result, 67 percent of 2015 GMC Sierra HD is made of high-strength and ultra-high-strength steel. Beside high-strength materials, safety features will include Safety Alert Seat, a reversing camera, park-assist sensors, lane-departure warning system, and a forward-collision alert system, which is pretty impressive.
Engine and performance
2015 GMC Sierra HD will be available with both gasoline and diesel engine. Gasoline engine foun under the hood of 2015 GMC Sierra HD is a .0-liter V-8 capable to deliver up to 360 horsepower and 380 lb.-ft. of torque. This engine comes combined with a 6-speed automatic transmission that transferes power to front-wheel-drive (standard) or all-wheel-drive (optional). Second engine is a 6.6-liter turbo-diesel V-8 dubbed “Duramax” that produces 397 horsepower and 765 lb.-ft. of torque. This engine is mated to an Allison 1000 6-speed automatic, with same drivetrain options as gasoline engine. Towing capacity depends on model series, so 2015 GMC Sierra 2500 HD is rated to tow 14,500 pounds, or 17,900 with a fifth-wheel, while 2015 GMC Sierra 3500 HD is rated at 19,600 pounds and 23,200 with fifth-wheel set up.
Changes and features
Changes made to exterior of the 2015 GMC Sierra HD will improve both the look of the model, and its aerodynamics. Exterior alteration include inlaid door design, body color bumpers, but include also all-new front grill that give the2015 GMC Sierra HD modern and attractive new look. Powertrain cooling is improved a lot, and new 2015 Sierra will have less noise inside, also. Interior of these trucks is very luxurious, and the main reason is that its owners spend a lot of time driving their trucks, so GMC decided to offer high level materials and features, that will make the ride as comfortable and fun as possible. Tech features among others include IntelliLink 8-inch touch-screen infotainment system with Bluetooth connectivity and Pandora Internet radio connection, while interior features that will make the ride comfortable as possible include leather upholstery, heated and ventilated front seats and heated steering wheel.
