New, second generation of 2015 Audi Q7 is finally coming next year. After introduction in 2003, first generation of Q7 entered the market in 2006. Unlike its German competitors Porsche Cayenne and Volkswagen Touareg, Q7 has never been redesigned properly. It is obvious that current model is pretty much outdated, so we can clearly say that release of new generation Q7 is necessary. As we all know, the styling plays a big role in Audi’s business philosophy, so there was no space for any other delays.
We can say that2015 Audi Q7 is definitely a full-size SUV. It meets every criteria to be called full-size everywhere except in North America. The design of new model is base on Crosslane concept, which was presented on Paris Auto Show. It will have more muscular look than current model. It will have A8-like rectangular headlights offered in LED and Matrix LED form and angular, metallic grille However, we have information that Matrix LED won’t be available for the U.S. market. This powerful appearance will be complemented with optional wheels in a range from 18 to 21 inches.
2015 Audi Q7 changes
We have information that new generation will be much lighter than current. To remind you, current V-6 model weights about 5350 pounds (2420 kg), same model from next generation should be about 700 pounds (300 kg) lighter. New model will be based on Audi’s car-based MLB modular-longitudinal platform. If we consider that previous model was not so good in off-road drive, this won’t be such a big handicap. On the other side, new model will offer much more comfort and assistance systems, which are unavailable in the current model.
2015 Audi Q7 Engine and price
We are still not definitely sure about engine offer, but we expect to be similar to current. Audi will probably keep current supercharged 3.0-liter V-6 as well as the 3.0-liter V-6 TDI. Twin-turbo 4.0 liter V-8 is also possible. Also, we expect Audi to offer two plug-in hybrid variants with “e-tron” badging. First one will be electric motor paired with supercharged 3.0 V-6 and the second one will be 3.0 V-6 TDI plus electric power plant. However, for U.S. market is planed only gasoline-based hybrid.
New Audi Q7 will be introduced next year as 2015 model. We don’t the price, but we expect to be similar to current model, maybe a little bit higher. The basic Q7 costs about 48,000 dollars.
