We always expect a lot from German car manufacturers and Audi is no exception. Its latest 2015 A8 will have a lot of changes including its dimensions and, of course, the engine innovations. At last year’s Frankfurt Auto Show, giants in auto industry presented a lot of novelties. 2015 Audi A8 will be more competitive and better than ever. Changes include more comfort and more features as well as better performance and modern new look, while experts say that the only downfall of this luxury sedan might be its weight.
Performance and engines
When it comes to Germans we always expect the most from performance of their vehicles. 2015 Audi A8 will have a wide range of very powerfull engines. Its engine line-up starts with the base 3.0-liter supercharged V-6 that produces 310 horsepower and 325 lb-ft of torque. Equipped with this engine 2015 Audi A8 goes from zero to 60 in 5.5 seconds, which is unbelievable. The strength of the engine, however, didn’t influence the fuel economy of this vehicle. Audi’s engineers managed to improve its efficiency compared to its precursor, and it is rated 19/28/22 mpg city/highway/combined. 4.0-Liter TFSI Twin-Turbocharged V8 with 435 horsepower and 444 lb-ft of torque is another engine offered under 2015 Audi A8’s hood. More horsepower and lb-ft of torque means, also, shorter acceleration time, and A8 with this engine will be able to accelerate from zero to 60 in 4.7 seconds. For 2015 Audi A8 with V8 under the hood EPA-estimated fuel economy is 17/27/20 mpg city/highway/combined. Beside gasoline engines, 2015 Audi A8 will be available with diesel engine too. 3.0-Liter Twin-Turbocharged TDI V-6 engine that delivers up to 258 horsepower and 406 lb-ft of torque, with equally impressive, but slower acceleration time of 6.4 seconds. One second more means a lot in its fuel efficiency rates. EPA-estimated fuel consumption is 25/37/29 mpg city/highway/combined. All engines from 2015 Audi A8’s line-up are mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission and combined with all-wheel-drive.
Features and changes
2015 Audi A8 exterior changes include new front bumper and grill, as well as new design of its headlights and taillights. Broad chrome line featured across the trunk accentuates its width and emphasizes even more its luxury look. For European market, Audi decided to offer choice between xenon, LED, or Matrix LED headlights, while its U.S. customers will not have the option of Matrix LED headlights due to legislature form 1960s that bans active headlamps. We mentioned earlier weight of the latest 2015 Audi A8 as a potential downfall, and the main reason is that new A8 weights up to 500 pounds more than most vehicles from its category. Luxurious interior now offers more space and comfort for its passengers. 2015 Audi A8‘s price is not published yet, but expect it to be around $700 more than the price of the previous model.
